Engineer builds one-of-a-kind mailbox for beachfront property Fred Curtis, La Selva Beach, CA writes . . . “My task was to design and build a dual mailbox to replace the dilapidated one, serving adjoining residences. After deciding on the lighthouse theme as appropriate for our seacoast location, I developed the design and details using AutoCAD. My MARK V was the versatile tool used to execute the project. The many intersecting planes required very accurate cuts at compound angles. These were accomplished on the Shopsmith with the aid of a shop-made sled, fitted with movable hold-down clamps to secure the boards. I was very satisfied with the precision work this machine can produce when patience and care are exercised.” Continue . . . |
