SERVICE POINTERS!
Jointer Service Pointers

As you work, sawdust, wood chips and wood pitch can accumulate on and inside your Jointer. Fine sawdust can dry out the bearings and the wood chips that collect between the tables can become impacted and make it difficult for you to adjust your depth-of-cut properly. The wood pitch that builds up on the cutterhead can interfere with knife adjustments.

After every five hours of running time, brush off your Jointer thoroughly and vacuum or blow out the space between the infeed and outfeed tables. Also, clean the built-up pitch from the knives and cutterhead with a commercial Sawblade Cleaner or mineral spirits.

After every 100 hours of running time, scrape out the impacted wood chips and clean the surfaces where the infeed and outfeed tables slide together. Again, a commercial saw blade cleaner or mineral spirits should be used.

If you have tried these remedies and they didn’t work . . . or if you’re experiencing difficulties that are not listed here, feel free to call Shopsmith’s TOLL-FREE Technical Services Hotline (1-800-762-7555) for the answer or send an e-mail to Shopsmith Technical Support.

WARNING: Always unplug machine before making any adjustments or performing any maintenance procedures.
