Here at Shopsmith, our mailbox is constantly stuffed with great letters from Shopsmith Power Tool Owners, talking about how they use their tools and what they think about them. Here are some excerpts from just a few of the thousands of letters we’ve received from the members of our Shopsmith Family of satisfied owners throughout the years. “I've been meaning to write to you for many years - finally sitting
down to do it. The picture should tell it all. My Dad, Norm Bowes, bought
the Shopsmith somewhere in the late 40's or early 50's. It has moved from
New York to Cleveland to Philadelphia and is finally at my home in Jupiter,
Florida since Dad gave it to me in 1978.
It has never missed a beat in its 50 + years of usage (Perhaps you might sell more machines if you didn't build them so good!). The Sander, Drill Press, Jigsaw and all of the attachments are in perfect running order. If it ever dies, I'd offer it to you if you had a museum - but I'm not sure anyone will be around that long! My son's woodworking class in high-school even came to look at it - to see just what antiques look like!”

“This letter is long overdue but you'll have to understand...ever
since I purchased my Shopsmith MARK V (Model 510), I have been doing nothing
but woodworking and living in the garage. My wife has even complained
of becoming a “Shopsmith Widow”.
As you know, often when we make a purchase these days, it's necessary for us to make adjustments for poor design or for other limitations. Quite frankly, I didn't expect the Shopsmith to be any different...but I've been proven wrong. I have used every function of the machine many times over and I haven't made the first compromise. It is a pleasure to use such a nicely designed and manufactured tool. The new models are a vast improvement over the model my father gave me several years ago (which he used for 35 or 40 years). ”
Florida man's MARK V comes out of 10 years' storage and goes right to work!

“I have owned my Shopsmith since 1982. I was in the military and
was sent overseas in 1985. My Shopsmith was put in the garage for about
10 years while I was gone.
Prior to putting it into storage, I heavily waxed it and wrapped it up real good. When I returned and unwrapped it, my Shopsmith was in excellent shape. I then checked the belts and found them to be in excellent shape. Next, I turned my machine on and ran it from its slowest speed to its highest speed very slowly to check how it survived all those years in storage. The machine performed excellently and I found no problems.
My new neighbors were astounded when they saw what my machine could do. THANKS FOR YOUR PRODUCT! This machine has been a superb help to me in the short time that I was able to use it. I still plan to put my Shopsmith to good use in the many years ahead.”
