Real Letters from
Shopsmith Power Tool Owners

Retired Florida man just can't say enough about a lifetime of great woodworking with THREE Shopsmith woodworking systems!

Gerald W. Pipher of Seminole, FL writes . . .

”I recently watched one of your Shopsmith demonstrations on TV and was hoping they might mention that you have a web site, but they made no mention of it. But, I did a search on the web and to my great pleasure, there it was, and it's a wonderful website.

I am a 77 year old man who has owned three different Shopsmith products, starting shortly after I got out of the service, following WWII. My first was a 10-ER model, followed by a SawSmith (an early Shopsmith radial arm saw) and finally, a MARK V. I was very satisfied with them and spent many very pleasurable hours working with them over he years until I had to finally give it up because of health problems.

I sold the ER years ago and know that it's still being used.  I passed the SawSmith along to my son and the MARK V along to my son-in-law, who now also enjoys it very much.

You may wonder while I'm still interested in Shopsmith. It's because I miss my shop . . . and my Shopsmiths . . . and often just like to sit and meditate on those good old days.  When I found your excellent web site . . . I'm sure that I'll be visiting often, just to bring back more memories of old times.

At first, I was surprised that you hadn't changed the MARK V much over the years. But then, I got to thinking . . . why would you make any major changes when it was already the machine, and there wasn't too much you could do to improve on it?”

A Shopsmith woodworker since 1956, California man builds a lifetime of great projects and great fun!

Glen Finch of Sacramento, CA writes . . .

“After graduating from high school in 1956, I bought my first Shopsmith from a friend.  It was a used model 10-ER and prior to our wedding in 1959, I used it to build a bedroom set, night stands, coffee table and end tables for our new home. Many more items were also built with it over the years until I sold it in 1978.

I replaced it with a new MARK V (Model 500) and built many projects with it, too, until I upgraded it to a Model 510 in 1986. Over the last few years, I have added all of the accessories, which allows me a full woodworking shop. Most of the accessories are on separate stands for ease of use.

Some of the larger projects I have built in the last few years include a china hutch, a rocking horse for the grandchildren, two cradles and a drop-leaf table. This year, I built an entertainment center and a lighted curio cabinet out of red oak for my wife's Precious Moments collection.

Thanks for building such a dependable piece of equipment . . . which has been almost trouble-free, considering the number of hours I have used it!"
