DON'T
Never wear neckties or jewelry . . . No eye protection . . . Tool rest positioned incorrectly for scraping on the lathe . . . Chisel dull

Remove all jewelry and ties . . . Wear eye protection . . . Mount tool rest slightly below centerline and 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch away from the workpiece . . . Be sure your chisels are sharp
