California M.D. buys MARK V to help build new home Byron Comstock,
M.D. of Millville, CA. writes... He looked at me, smiled, and said 'I have a Shopsmith MARK V, which is an unbelievable woodworking tool. It will cut your corbels if you are patient.' I told him that I had never operated any equipment like he had mentioned. He replied that he had all of the manuals for operation instructions and that he would sell me the complete outfit and if I didn't like it, he'd buy it back. Making the corbels wasn't easy due to the size of the material...but I did it. My latest project is a cradle which I built for my first grandchild. John has moved on to heaven, but I always think of him when I use my (our) Shopsmith MARK V.
Alabama man backs into his MARK V woodshop F. Stevenson
of Huntsville, AL writes... By early 1984, I had met a third Shopsmith owner and began working with him on a special project using his system. During that Summer, he attended a Shopsmith demonstration and while there, ordered two new items, totaling about $200. When his order arrived (by freight), not only were his two items unloaded, so were a Bandsaw, Jointer, Belt Sander, Jigsaw and a host of other miscellaneous items. Realizing that an error had been made, he informed Shopsmith and was advised that the excess items would be retrieved. His suggestion to Shopsmith... 'Don't pick it up yet...I have a friend who's in the market for a system.' I was notified of the boo-boo and promptly took a look. Yep...I bought the Bandsaw, Jointer, Belt Sander and a host of small accessories. Now, I have all that stuff and no basic unit. I didn't have to wait long, though, because a sale flier arrived a few days later...and I immediately called in my order. Since then, I have upgraded my MARK V to a Model 510; retro-fitted my Bandsaw and purchased a Planer, Strip Sander, Router Table and a number of accessories. That's my story. I'm the proud owner of Shopsmith equipment...and it's all high-quality equipment. I've had a number of folks want to buy it...but I just tell 'em where to go to get a new system...and some do. |
