Real Letters from
Shopsmith Power Tool Owners

Here at Shopsmith, our mailbox is constantly stuffed with great letters from Shopsmith Power Tool Owners, talking about how they use their tools and what they think about them. Here are some excerpts from just a few of the thousands of letters we’ve received from the members of our Shopsmith Family of satisfied owners throughout the years. We hope you’ll enjoy reading them as much as we have.

Mississippi owner likes MARK V's efficiency

S. Anderson of Jackson, MS writes...
“I take great pride in my accomplishments with wood. Thanks to my MARK V, my woodworking procedures are all more efficient, and that allows me the time to concentrate on precision and craftsmanship.

California man claims his MARK V has “paid its way”

Robert Hannegan of Fullerton, CA writes...
“My Shopsmith MARK V and Jointer have easily paid for themselves many times over. However, I have only one complaint. After 23 years, the geared belt broke! Should I write to Guinness?

Pennsylvania owner appreciates his MARK V's ease and versatility

Bob Gridlak of Sharon, PA writes...
“After pricing children's high chairs, my wife and I decided that it would be worthwhile for me to build one instead of buying it. I had just recently taken up woodworking and was a little unsure about making the compound cuts and the indent in the tray. However, I easily formed the indent freehand after routing the rim of the tray with my MARK V Routing set-up. I attribute my project's success to the ease of use and versatility of my MARK V. Looking back, the high chair wasn't really difficult at all.”

Kansas boat-builder raves about MARK V's rugged dependability

J. D. Roach of Newton, KS writes...
“I'd like to complement you on the quality and reliability of your equipment. After 26 years of building projects with my MARK V - five full size hydroplanes, six outboard hydros and nine homes (complete with cabinetry), I've had my very first experience with bearing failure.

Alabama couple disagree on ownership of their
MARK V

J. D. Roach of Newton, KS writes...
“My wife recently made a rocking horse completely on her own using our (her) Shopsmith MARK V. What makes this so unique is that she's never made anything out of wood...has never finished a wood project...or even screwed two pieces of wood together before! Two years ago, she saw the Shopsmith TV show and asked me to buy her a MARK V. Although she's extremely crafty, she had never worked with wood. My woodworking experience has been limited to junior high-school shop classes over twenty years ago and some repairs around the house.

I was very reluctant to buy it, but on her insistence, I did. We've been ecstatic about it ever since. That's why I say it's our MARK V and she says it's hers. Thanks so much for such a super machine!”
